Senior Frontend Developer
HFBACOur client is a 12-14 person AI-native startup in San Francisco building a personal AI assistant for knowledge workers. Closer to 'Cursor for knowledge work' than a chatbot - the system understands user context, curates and prioritises work, and delivers supervision-ready output rather than waiting to be prompted. They've raised $30M seed from top-tier investors including Y Combinator. One of the largest seed rounds in YC history.
They're hiring a senior frontend developer to own the entire frontend. A foundational hire who'll ship polished, intuitive, high-performance interfaces and make significant product and design decisions independently.
You'll need:
- 4+ years frontend engineering experience
- Deep expertise in React and TypeScript
- Portfolio of complex, data-intensive web applications
- Strong product and design intuition
- Comfort with AI-assisted engineering workflows
Nice to have: Y.js / CRDTs, LLM tool interfaces, local-first architectures (IndexedDB), founding frontend engineer experience.
Stack: TypeScript, React, Zustand, TailwindCSS, IndexedDB.
Location: San Francisco, on-site five days per week. US work authorization or O-1 visa eligibility required. Bay Area based or willing to relocate before starting.
Compensation: $180,000 - $240,000 + meaningful early-stage equity + full benefits (health, dental, 401(k), considerable PTO, gym budget).
