Introduction

We are seeking an experienced and innovative Front-End Engineer to join our team in Johannesburg. The successful candidate will play a key role in developing secure, scalable, and high-performance digital solutions within the banking industry. Working closely with cross-functional teams, you will design, build, and maintain intuitive digital experiences that support business growth and enhance customer satisfaction.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and support front-end features using modern web technologies.
  • Build scalable, maintainable, and high-performing web applications.
  • Collaborate with UX/UI designers, business analysts, product owners, and back-end developers.
  • Translate business and technical requirements into robust front-end solutions.
  • Ensure code quality through clean coding practices and adherence to development standards.
  • Serve as the go-to resource for front-end development queries and best practices.
  • Validate technical assumptions and contribute to solution design.
  • Participate in code reviews, testing, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support production deployments and resolve front-end issues where required.

Desired Experience & Qualification

Qualifications

  • Degree or Diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.

Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years' proven experience as a Front-End Engineer or Front-End Developer.
  • At least 3 years of experience within the banking or financial services industry.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering enterprise-scale digital solutions.

 

Technical Skills

The ideal candidate should have experience with:

  • React
  • Redux
  • REST APIs
  • GitLab CI/CD (or equivalent CI/CD tools)
  • Docker
  • Relational Databases
  • Front-end architecture and component-based development
  • Responsive web design
  • Version control using Git
