Introduction

Our Client is seeking an Expert Front-End Developer to join the core Software Engineering team within their global IT Hub, driving the "Supplier Call Off and Supply Chain Control" product portfolio.

This product suite provides standardized IT processes for demand planning, call-off generation, lot-size-oriented material planning, and supply chain track-and-trace capabilities feeding global manufacturing plants.

Operating as an authoritative technical leader, you will lead the architecture, UI engineering, and automated testing of high-performance front-end applications, integrating seamlessly with Java/Python backend microservices on Microsoft Azure.

Who This Role Would Suit:

This role is tailor-made for a Principal Front-End Architect or Lead Full Stack Engineer who excels at designing modern, scalable web applications for enterprise supply chain operations.

It is an ideal fit for an expert who pairs deep Angular/TypeScript expertise with robust test automation frameworks (Playwright) and solid backend/Azure cloud deployment skills, ready to drive technical excellence across global engineering squads.

  • Front-End Architecture Mastery: 6+ years of specialized frontend engineering experience in JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML5, CSS, and modern UI frameworks (Angular v9+ or React).
  • Automated Testing & Full Stack Integration: 3+ years designing automated UI test suites (Playwright, Cypress, Selenium) alongside 3+ years backend development experience in Java (Spring Boot, Quarkus) or Python (Flask, Django).
  • Cloud, DevOps & Technical Leadership: 3+ years public cloud experience (Microsoft Azure) with hands-on container orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker), GitOps/IaC (Terraform, Helm, ArgoCD), and CI/CD pipeline automation (GitHub Actions).

  • Location: Midrand / Menlyn / Rosslyn / Home Office Rotation
  • Level: Expert (8+ years related experience)

Duties & Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • UI Architecture & Engineering: Architect, build, and optimize scalable, responsive web frontends using modern Angular and TypeScript.
  • Backend API Integration: Develop and maintain backend APIs in Java/Python, ensuring reliable communication between frontend interfaces and microservices.
  • Test Automation & Quality: Expand automated testing coverage from unit to end-to-end (E2E) using Playwright/Cypress.
  • Cross-Team Quality Assurance: Lead technical code reviews and conduct quality assurance across international development teams (South Africa, Germany, third-party vendors).
  • Operations & L2/L3 Support: Provide Tier-2 and Tier-3 operational support, perform root cause analysis, and ensure uptime for supply chain planning platforms.

Location & Relocation

Applicants based outside of Gauteng must be willing to relocate to Midrand/Menlyn/Rosslyn. Please note that relocation to the province will be at the candidate's own cost.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or similar qualification.
  • Minimum of 6+ years of dedicated Frontend development experience.
  • Minimum of 3+ years of Backend development experience (Java or Python).
  • Minimum of 3+ years of hands-on experience in Public Cloud (Microsoft Azure).

 

Essential Skills & Technologies:

Frontend & Testing:

  • 6+ years in JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML5, and CSS.
  • Thorough mastery of Angular (Version 9+) or React.
  • 3+ years automated testing using Playwright, Cypress, or Selenium.

 

Backend & Cloud DevOps:

  • 3+ years in Java (JavaEE, Spring, Spring Boot, Quarkus) or Python (Flask, Django) with API design.
  • Microsoft Azure cloud platform experience.
  • Container orchestration: Kubernetes and Docker.
  • CI/CD automation (GitHub Actions) and IaC/GitOps (Terraform, Helm, ArgoCD, Flux, Ansible).
  • ITIL operational support (Incident, Problem, Change Management).

 

Advantageous Skills:

  • Event streaming architectures with Apache Kafka.
  • Microservices development and maintenance.
  • Integration knowledge with SAP enterprise systems (ECC, S/4HANA).
