Senior Staff Frontend Developer

SciTec is seeking a skilled Frontend Developer to design, implement, and support a next-generation command and control operator interface for space-based and remote sensing systems. This platform will drive adjudication of fusion, prioritization, and tracking, and sensor tasking to ensure the effective exploitation of geospatial data.

In this role, you will prototype, develop, integrate, and test advanced Frontend software solutions that turn complex sensor feeds and tracking workflows into intuitive operator experiences. You will work closely with a small, fast-paced team of scientists, UX designers, engineers, and developers in an environment that values innovation, agility, and the creation of tools that directly enhance mission outcomes. The ideal candidate thrives in collaborative settings, takes ownership across the full development lifecycle, and is motivated by building interfaces that bridge advanced algorithms with real-time decision making in space operations.

Responsibilities

• Develop, improve, and maintain frontend software, tests, and documentation for geospatial web interfaces
• Design, prototype, and implement modular React components that drive responsive, high-stakes user experiences
• Collaborate closely with other frontend engineers as well as UX design, backend, systems engineering, and visualization teams to deliver integrated solutions
• Contribute to Agile practices (standups, sprint planning, retrospectives) and foster clear communication across teams
• Continuously improve frontend engineering practices and processes, including testing and performance standards
• Grow into a key technical voice on the frontend team, with opportunities to shape design systems, roadmap decisions, and adoption of modern frontend technologies.

• 6+ years of professional experience developing user-facing web applications, ideally handling real-time data visualization
• Proficiency in JavaScript with React or another modern frontend framework
• Experience with CSS frameworks and styling systems (e.g., Tailwind, Styled Components) and state management libraries (e.g., Redux, Zustand, Recoil)
• Strong skills in frontend testing (e.g., Jest, React Testing Library, Cypress)
• Familiarity with build and deployment tooling (e.g., Webpack, Vite) and integrating with CI/CD pipelines
• Experience working with or building design systems and reusable component libraries
• Solid understanding of software engineering best practices and commitment to high-quality code
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance
• Effective communication skills and attention to detail

Candidates who have any of the following skills will be preferred:

• Experience with Typescript
• Experience with Git, Jira, Confluence, Scrum
• Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams
• Experience with backend development or UI/UX design is a plus
• Experience with OPIR, E/O, SAR, Spectral, RF, or other remotely sensed data
• A current DoD security clearance

The pay range for this position is $120,000 - $146,000 / year. SciTec considers several factors when extending an offer of employment, including but not limited to the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills.
