Next Sense is looking for a Front-End Engineer to join the team.

Full-time · Amsterdam

About the job

We are looking for a FE Engineer to strengthen our team. You will be responsible for developing and optimizing user interfaces that are intuitive, responsive, and scalable. Working with modern JavaScript frameworks, you will help build engaging front-end experiences that integrate seamlessly with our Azure-powered backend.

The role involves implementing UI components, ensuring performance and accessibility best practices, and contributing to the development and maintenance of our front-end applications. You will collaborate closely with designers and backend engineers to deliver a smooth and cohesive user experience. Additionally, you will assist in writing tests, integrating front-end code into our CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions), and refining our front-end development workflows.

This is a hands-on role where you will develop, optimize, and iterate on our front-end applications while growing your expertise in modern front-end technologies. We are looking for someone who is eager to learn, collaborate, and contribute to a high-quality engineering culture.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain the client portal, signage platform, and control app using React and TypeScript, focusing on graphs, tables, and other data visualization components.

  • Build reusable, maintainable components to ensure consistency and scalability across the application.

  • Collaborate with designers and product teams to translate wireframes and mockups into engaging and accessible interfaces.

  • Integrate with back-end APIs to dynamically render data in charts, graphs, and tables.

  • Optimize the front end for performance, responsiveness, and usability.

  • Ensure a high-quality user experience by writing unit tests.

  • Stay current with best practices in data visualization, leveraging libraries like Recharts and D3.js.

  • Work closely with back-end engineers to ensure efficient data delivery and seamless integration.

About you

We're looking for the following qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in front-end development with React and TypeScript.

  • Experience with data visualization libraries such as Recharts, D3.js, or similar.

  • Strong understanding of modern JavaScript (ES6+) and TypeScript.

  • Expertise in creating responsive UIs and data-heavy components, such as interactive graphs, dashboards, and tables.

  • Proficiency in state management tools like Redux, Zustand, or React Context.

  • Experience with integrating and rendering large datasets efficiently in the UI.

  • Familiarity with testing tools like Jest, React Testing Library, or Cypress.

  • Hands-on experience with RESTful APIs or GraphQL for fetching data.

  • A strong eye for design and usability, with a focus on building clean, intuitive interfaces.

Compensations & benefits

What do we offer you, on top of a suitable and competitive salary?

  • A one-year contract, with the intention to extend (as this is a permanent position).

  • Holiday pay (8% off the gross salary).

  • 27 vacation days per calendar year.

  • Remote work: opportunity to work abroad up to 10 days per calendar year.

  • Wellbeing: we very much value our employees’ wellbeing. Besides the weekly bootcamp sessions we also offer delicious coffee and tea, healthy lunches, and snacks at the office.

  • Company laptop and a monthly allowance of EUR 25 to cover phone costs.

  • Development: an individual training budget up to EUR 1000 yearly and 5 paid 'personal growth' days a year to spend how you see fit.

  • Travel allowance (based on actual costs / kms).

Please note that this offer is based on full-time (40 hours) employment.
